Save the open request#

Name the request and pick a target, and the button tells you whether it saves, updates, or overwrites.

A save keeps a request in a collection or folder so you can reopen it later. You save the request in the active tab, name it, and choose where it goes. The button tells you whether you create a new request, update an existing one, or replace another.

Save from the URL bar#

Click the Save button at the right end of the URL bar. The Save Request popover opens with two fields. Name is pre-filled with the tab name. Edit it if you want a different name in the collection. Collection is a dropdown of every collection and folder, with folders indented under their parent. Choose a target, then click the save button.

You can also press Ctrl+S, or Cmd+S on a Mac. If the tab is already linked to a saved request, this updates it in place and shows Request saved. Otherwise it opens the popover so you can name it and choose a target.

New, update, or overwrite#

The save button changes its label to match the result:

  • Save creates a new request. You see this label when the tab is not linked to a saved request, or when you choose a target other than where the linked request lives.
  • Update replaces the linked request in place. You see this label when the tab came from a saved request and you keep the same target.
  • Overwrite appears when a different request with the same name already exists in the chosen target. The button turns red, and the footer shows Existing "name" will be overwritten. Choose it to replace that request and link the tab to it.

Change the name to one that does not clash, and the button reverts to Save or Update.

What the entry keeps#

The entry keeps the full request: its method, URL, parameters, headers, body, auth, settings, and scripts. The tab name becomes the saved name.

After the save#

The popover shows a success state, closes after a moment, and the side panel switches to the Collections tab so you can see the entry. The tab is now linked to the saved request, so your next save updates it in place. See Opening a saved request.
